ONE SINGLE WISH FOR YOU

Bruce and I have nominated ourselves as the people who get to make one single year-end wish for you. Woo hoo! Of course, making a wish on your behalf gives us reign to wish just about anything we can think up and, well, that's kind of exciting.

So, here goes.

Our one single wish for you, as we near the end of 2018, is this: We wish that you never stop wanting to grow yourself. We wish that you'll always want to get better, no matter where you are in life. We wish that you pursue your goals and dreams with passion and courage. Though sometimes that's easier said than done.

See, what typically happens is, we get stuck. For whatever reason, the hustle and bustle of life takes over, our days start to mash together, and we get stuck on an autopilot sort of life.

We wish something different for you. We wish that you will always seek to unstick yourself and make learning and growing a conscious and intentional priority in your life. You'll be amazed at what shifts and the changes that will start to take place as you seek to continually stretch and grow outside of your comfort zone. You see, we know that the greatest way to upgrade your life is to become intentional with it.

WHAT DOES GROWING LOOK LIKE?

Making your growth a priority doesn't have to be hard or time-consuming. In fact, it could be one of the most simple steps you take to shake up your life into one that feels vibrant and passion-filled. When you become more intentional, your life can transform from successful to significant.

Here are two suggestions:

1. CHANGE IT UP
Variety is the spice of life and changing up a few of your habitual actions is a quick and easy way to make sure you are always mixing things up by trying new things.

Use this checklist as a starter.

__________ LISTEN TO NEW RADIO STATION FOR A DAY

__________ TRY A NEW RESTAURANT

__________ STRIKE UP A CONVERSATION WITH A STRANGER

__________ LUNCH WITH A CO-WORKER OR PEER YOU DON’T KNOW WELL

__________ PLAY A SPORT YOU NEVER HAVE (PICKLE BALL?)

__________ DRIVE TO WORK IN A NEW WAY

__________ TAKE A DAY TRIP TO A PLACE YOU’VE NEVER BEEN

__________ WATCH A DOCUMENTARY ON SOMETHING YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT

__________ CREATE NEW MEMORIES FOR PEOPLE

2. STOP SAYING NO
Use of the word no becomes a bad habit very fast. In our effort to protect our time and, especially, our comfort zone, we unconsciously limit ourselves and make our world smaller and smaller by no-ing it closed.

Here are some ideas to help.

__________ SAY YES TO EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO DO FOR AN ENTIRE DAY

__________ READ “PUT YOUR DREAM TO THE TEST” BY JOHN MAXWELL

__________ WATCH THE TED TALK “WHAT I LEARNED FROM 100 DAYS OF REJECTION” BY JIA JIANG (REALLY, DO THIS!!!)

__________ DON’T INTERRUPT ANYONE FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK

__________ GO WITH YOUR GUT ON THE NEXT BIG DECISION

__________ AGREE TO THE NEXT THING SOMEONE SUGGESTS THAT FEELS FULL OF POSSIBILITY

__________ SAY “YES AND” AT WORK EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK (ELIMINATE THE WORD "BUT" FROM YOUR VOCAB)

__________ ASK 2 PEOPLE FOR THEIR POINT OF VIEW TODAY

Bruce and I are trainers and coaches by trade, so of course, we want you to make growing a high priority in your life.

We want all new managers to take our leadership courses, we want anyone who is struggling as a higher-level leader to come to me for coaching, we want teams and companies to hire us for workshops, we want to DISC-connect teams, we want to play The Leadership Game with your team(s), we want to support you in building  - all that, all day.

However, us wanting that for you isn't enough. YOU have to want to keep growing and learning. You have to want to get unstuck and make the efforts to push yourself beyond what you have and know right now.

By wanting to grow - no matter your age, no matter your income or job title, no matter where you are in your career and life right now - YOU WILL move forward. Growth is inevitable when it's backed by wanting something better for your life and your career.

So, my friend, that's our single wish for you. As we end another year, our wish is that you'll put autopilot out to pasture and choose to mix up your days just a bit to ensure you're injecting some fun (and growth) into every day of 2019.

Best wishes for a fun holiday break and see you next year!
